Hair Dilemna: Split Ends!

I purchased the Tigi Bed Head Ego Boost Split End Mender (phew, long name!) from Price Attack today. It was $27.95, although I looked online and I could've got it for like $20, but I wanted it now. My hair needs it.
I have dry, split ends, and I don't want to cut them off. I know that's bad, since there's not quick fix for split ends, basically you have to cut them off, orelse you risk them creeping up higher and cracking the whole hair shaft. But it's a risk I'm willing to take, in order to get long (ish) hair!
Hope this works :) Has some good reviews!

"Boost that ego and save your hair! Ego Boost Split End Mender & Leave in conditioner will seal, smooth and protect your hair. As a split end mender, apply to ends. As a leave in conditioner, smooth over fly-aways as needed. Use on wet or dry hair."

According to reviews I've been reading, it's great for touch ups during the day to control frizziness. It also seals the cuticle, making it seem like the hair is healthy.
Apparently it also helps the hair condition, but I'm a tad skeptic because my ends are fried, I think they're beyond help. But we'll see how it goes! I'll give it a few more weeks, and if my ends are still unmanageable, I'll give them the chop!

The Tigi Bed Head Split End Mender will be replacing my Schwarzkopf Bonacure Repair Rescue Sealed Ends. I liked the way the Schwarzkopf Sealed Ends made my hair feel, it felt like ti was being nourished, but after using the whole tube, my hair hasn't improved. I do like the product, and I might re-purchase because it isn't bad, but in the mean time I'm trying new products to see if I can find something that will help my ends.

Has anyone suffered from split ends, then over come it?
Are there specific products you use to help prevent them?
Or even a cure?

I've been using the Redken Extreme shampoo and conditioner, and it's helped my hair, but I think I've had enough protein, and I'm going to start dying my hair again, so I need some new products!
I'm trying to find out recs from other blondes, but haven't come across any recs I think that would suit my hair type yet. So I purchased the Herbal Essences Long Term Relationship duo.
I wanted to try the Herbal Essences Breaks Over duo, but they didn't have any. Grrr.
I don't think the scent is nearly as good as Herbal Essences Hello Hydration, but apparently it's more moisturizing!

Any recs for moisturizing products?
I'm looking for a spray leave in conditioner!
But it has to be able to be sprayed onto dry hair, aswell as wet.

Ohhh hun I know what you mean! I HATE cutting my hair! It takes too much effort to grow!!!!! I had absolutley horrible split ends up until about 3 weeks ago. After a summer of fun in the sun and pool my hair became so crappy and dry!! I reallyyyy didn't want to cut it but I just knew I had to so I just squeezed my eyes shut and let the hairdresser go to work lol luckily it wasn't even all that bad and my hair feels 110% better!

But if you don't want to get it chopped I think lots of strengthening treatments would work a, well treat ; )
You could also try soaking your hair in coconut oil? I've heard that it's amazing!! I'm going to post my hair care treatments this weekend which I've been using and loving of late which include some Wella and John Fredia products : )

TIGI <3

Schwarzkoft products are bad for your hair, it coats the hair and makes it oily quickly.

Marc Daniels Damage shampoo and condition has done wonders for my hair after about two washes. Due to the torture my hair endures with harsh dyes, heat appliances it was dry as hell.
My hair is so much softer now and much healthier looking. And it's cheap only about $5 each from priceline :)!
There's my plug for marc daniels hahaha.

Let me know how the Tigi product goes, I haven't used many of their products really only the rockaholic range.

Hey Lorien, I just tried out this Japanese shampoo+conditioner from my Sasa.com order today. It's awesome! I have bleached/chemically straightened/dyed my hair ever since I was 16 without any breaks. And I used the shampoo+conditioner for the first time today and my hair's so soft and smooth...

And mind you, I have very coarse thick asian hair with heaps of split ends.

Arg...I wish I can email you about it.

back in the day, I had reallly blonde hair. I got it done every 6 weeks and it was in such ba condition, terrible ends and all. I went back to a dark brown and instantly that helped my hair strengthen simply by not having the bleach put through every few weeks, but now I'm back on the road to blonde.

Really, the only thing that got my hair healthy again was cutting it allllll off! I got one of those concave bobs and my hair has no split ends!

Go for a bit of a trim just to get rid of them and then work on using the 5 minute masks u can use in the shower and using a heat protection spray. I use the Dove one in a red bottle, its great :)

About two two and a half years ago my hair was really long, but it was also SUPER fried. I tried a ton of treatments, but nothing worked so I just ended up cutting it to just below my shoulders. While I didn't love the haircut, it felt better because my hair was so healthy! My hair is long again now though, and my ends aren't too bad :) I just do an olive oil treatment once a week, and I only apply heat to my hair about twice a week. I usually let it air dry, and I use CHI keratin mist(a strengthining treatment), and CHI silk infusion.

That's what has kept my ends decently healthy, I hope that it helps you! I know how frustrating split ends are :(

I also tried the Herbal Essences Long Term Relationship serum, I think it made my ends soft, but didn't necessarily stop the split ends. Tell us how the Bed Head serum works!
